Position Appropriations and District Investment
“After voting against Republicans' devastating bill to strip health care and food assistance from millions of families to pay for billionaire tax breaks, I'm working for real investments in our ability to thrive in Michigan's 12th District. From safe, affordable water to affordable housing and supportive care, I'm calling on Congress to pass a budget that puts people and communities first. At the same time, I'm continuing to fight the Trump Administration's illegal funding and job cuts that put our families at risk. I'll never back down when the resources we all need for a good life are on the line.”

Position Housing
“Having access to a safe place to live is a human right. Every year, Congress passes another record-breaking military budget, and President Trump just requested a $1.5 trillion Pentagon budget this year. Experts say it would cost a fraction of this to end homelessness in our country. Congress has the power and the resources, but our elected official's priorities are shamefully misplaced. I'm proud to re-introduce the Unhoused Persons Bill of Rights, legislation that commits the federal government to addressing the root of our nation's housing crisis once and for all.”

Position Military Budget and Health Care
“Imagine if our government funded our communities like they fund war. Congress just authorized nearly a trillion dollars for death and destruction but cut a trillion dollars from Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. They're gutting health care and food assistance to pay for bombs and weapons. It's a sick vicious cycle. Another record-breaking military budget is impossible to justify when Americans are sleeping on the streets, unable to afford groceries to feed their children, and racking up massive amounts of medical debt just for getting sick. My colleagues drool at the opportunity to fund war and genocide, but when it comes to universal health care, affordable housing, and food assistance, they suddenly argue that we simply can't afford it. Our priorities are disgustingly misplaced. I will continue working to end forever wars, stop funding genocide, and invest those funds in the critical resources our communities deserve.”
