Political lean: words vs. votes (independent AI assessment)
Two separate AI assessments, each shown only one side and never the other — one reads just what they're promising, the other reads just their actual votes — so any gap between the two is an independent signal, not a model grading its own homework.

Position Foreign Policy - Iran War Powers
“Trump's war of choice on Iran is proving to be a wasteful, unjust, and useless mission as negotiations and the ceasefire remain fragile. Congress never authorized this war, and now we are dealing with the consequences of Trump's recklessness. Thirteen U.S. service members have died and over five thousand civilians have been killed in the region, gas prices have skyrocketed, and we are all less safe than before the war started. Trump's expensive, dangerous, and unnecessary war has empowered Iran to weaponize the Strait of Hormuz--which Iran now controls--and there is no going back. I will not vote for one more penny to fund this illegal war, and we must find a diplomatic solution to end this catastrophe immediately.”

Position Government Spending & Appropriations
“I can't support this appropriations bill, which funds the Department of the Interior without doing anything to prevent the Trump administration's attacks on offshore wind and the resulting skyrocketing energy bills, lowered grid reliability, and lost union jobs. I can't support this appropriations bill, which funds the Department of Energy without doing anything to rein in the insanity of Trump's proposal to use American taxpayer dollars to help oil companies profit off Venezuelan oil. I can't support this appropriations bill, which enables Trump and Zeldin's decimation of public health and scientific integrity and fails to resolve this past year's political attacks on clean energy and environmental grantees. And I can't support this appropriations bill, which funds Trump's Department of Justice as it launches baseless criminal probes and prosecutions against political opponents. We're dealing with a lawless administration that's willing to weaponize every part of government against Americans--that's why we need laws that will actually stop it, and this one won't.”

Position Immigration & ICE Funding
“Republicans voted last night under the cover of darkness to give a $70 billion blank check to Trump's ICE thugs, placed no checks on the $1.8 billion slush fund for January 6th insurrectionists, and blocked every amendment that would lower costs for the American people. Americans are struggling to afford gas, groceries, housing, and healthcare, but Republicans—at Trump's bidding—found taxpayer dollars for lawless and reckless ICE agents. It's clear where they stand: they'll give relief to criminals, but none to families. They'll find billions to tear families apart but can't find the funds to keep food on families' kitchen tables. I will keep voting no on these budgets of cruelty and corruption and fight for American families to get the relief they need.”
