Position Economy/cost of living
“Donald Trump gave the longest State of the Union in history. But it didn't include a single serious plan to lower costs for working families. Instead, he tried to tell you everything is great while your grocery bill, your rent, and your credit card statement say the opposite. He said nothing about an economy that's squeezing people dry, about health care costs rising for 22 million Americans, or about the $1,745 his illegal tariffs pulled out of your pocket last year. Nothing about the families torn apart by his policies or the risk of dragging us into another endless war most Americans do not want. And then a president who has personally profited to the tune of $1.4 billion from his time in office lectured the country about corruption. Americans are not stupid. They see what's happening. They feel it every day. We do not need a three-hour sales pitch. We need lower costs, accountability, and leadership grounded in reality. Enough is enough.”

Position Government shutdown/healthcare
“The government is now shut down because Congressional Republicans and President Trump chose to let it close. Federal workers will miss paychecks, services people rely on will be delayed, and families will feel the strain in their daily lives. Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. They refused to negotiate with Democrats on a bipartisan path forward. Instead, Speaker Johnson sent House Republicans home without a deal, and President Trump resorted to mean-spirited social media posts instead of serious leadership. We are in this situation because of their choices. I am ready to work across the aisle to reopen the government, protect Americans' health care, and prevent families in our community from facing higher premiums. I will work with anyone serious about ending this shutdown and getting us back to serving the people.”

Position National defense/NDAA
“Historically, the NDAA has been a bipartisan bill that brings Democrats and Republicans together to support our nation's service members and their families. As an Appropriator and the proud representative of Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, I understand what's at stake when we are negotiating funding our military. Unfortunately, instead of working together, House Republicans opted to undermine months of bipartisan negotiation and politicize military funding by attaching extreme policy riders to the NDAA that divide and target service members instead of supporting them. Allowing extremist policies and culture war divisions to infiltrate the NDAA damages this important defense policy bill and is harmful to our Armed Forces and service members' ability to do their jobs. This NDAA is anti-worker, anti-service member, and anti-family. I support an NDAA that focuses on the health, safety, and well-being of our military and addresses their needs, unfortunately, this one does not. I will continue fighting for a stronger bipartisan NDAA that adequately addresses and funds the needs of our service members and their families. I urge the Senate to remedy the poison pills included in this bill as it has done in past years and I look forward to supporting a bipartisan final product.”
