Position Housing affordability
“The rent is too damn high, and it's past time Congress acted on the housing crisis. Too many young people can no longer dream of owning a home. Over 70,000 Angelenos are unhoused. Corporate landlords are buying up our homes. And rather than addressing these challenges head-on, Trump and Republicans made life more expensive for Americans by inflating costs and slashing safety net programs. Democrats fought hard to ensure this bipartisan bill enacts meaningful change for renters and buyers. This comprehensive package will expand access to affordable housing, protect renters, hold corporate landlords accountable, and allow for the construction of new rental properties. I was proud to vote yes because we need all hands on deck to resolve this crisis and ensure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home.”

Position Voting rights
“The Supreme Court just eroded one of our last lines of defense against racial discrimination in redistricting. Today it's Black voters in Louisiana who may lose equal representation. Tomorrow it's communities of color everywhere who risk losing the hard-fought progress they've made in electing leaders who reflect their lived experiences. The Voting Rights Act was born out of sacrifice and struggle. Like those who marched before us, we will continue to show up for our fundamental right to vote and rebuild what the Court has relentlessly weakened. We must start by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and reforming this out-of-control Supreme Court.”

Position War powers/Iran
“The self-proclaimed 'Peace President' just dragged the United States back into war in the Middle East. This reckless decision risks further destabilizing a region still reeling from the aftermath of a brutal two-year war and jeopardizes the lives of 40,000 Americans and countless civilians across the region. Let me be clear: the Iranian regime is among the world's worst human rights abusers. I unequivocally support the people of Iran in their fight for freedom and democracy. But Trump acting alone, without a clear motivation or sustained day-after plan, risks causing even greater harm to both them and to us. If the administration came to Congress with a comprehensive strategy to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to support the Iranian people, many lawmakers on both sides of the aisle would be ready to listen. Instead, the president has offered no evidence of an imminent threat, no accounting of the potential costs, and has once again gone rogue—leaving Congress and the American people in the dark. Americans do not want to send their sons and daughters into a war that has not been explained nor justified to them. Mike Johnson must reconvene the House immediately so we can vote on a war powers resolution to end hostilities with Iran, reassert Congress' constitutional authority, and ensure we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.”
