Position Governing philosophy / bipartisanship
“As the trusted representative for Texas' 32nd Congressional District, I attended the 60th Presidential Inauguration to witness the peaceful transition of power and show my support for our democracy. My job is to fight to make life better for Texas families, and I will work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, who is interested in lowering costs, securing our border, and keeping our communities safe. But make no mistake, I will always stand up to President Trump, his administration, division, and far-right extremism when any of those individuals or entities threaten our way of life.”

Position Healthcare / budget policy
“This budget is a direct attack on the people I represent. I voted no because the Republican budget guts health care, slashes food assistance, and undercuts economic opportunity in North Texas, all to give another massive tax break to Donald Trump and his billionaire friends. Over 102,000 people in my district rely on Medicaid, including 80,000 children and 12,000 seniors, and another 103,000 count on Affordable Care Act coverage to get the care they need. This budget takes that coverage away and hikes premiums by as much as $13,000 a year for some families. And while grocery prices keep rising, nearly 29,000 households in North Texas count on SNAP to put food on the table, but Republicans are gutting that too. This isn't about fiscal responsibility. It's cruel. And I am disgusted that my Republican colleagues, knowing full well how many people in their own districts would suffer, pushed this budget through anyway because they're too afraid to stand up to Trump. I will keep fighting for working families, children, and seniors in North Texas, because while my Republican colleagues bow to Trump, I came to Washington to stand up for the people I represent.”

Position Voting rights / elections
“In a Republican-controlled Congress, being an effective legislator means knowing how to build support, find common ground, and deliver meaningful results for North Texans. The unanimous passage of my VOTE Act out of committee proves that protecting Americans' access to the ballot box and strengthening trust in our elections can and should rise above partisan politics. As we head into the upcoming midterm elections, it is critical that every eligible voter has clear, timely, and accurate information about when, where, and how to vote. Across the country, we have seen confusion around polling place changes and election administration create unnecessary barriers for voters. The VOTE Act is a commonsense step to help ensure voters are informed and prepared so their voices can be heard. I will continue working with anyone willing to protect the fundamental right to vote for every American.”
