Position 9/11 Responders & Veterans Health
“New Yorkers will never forget September 11th, 2001, and we have a responsibility to match our words with action. Responders and survivors must always receive the care they were promised without delays or disruption. Since the day I was first elected to Congress, I have worked to keep that promise. That's why I have been focused on ensuring the World Trade Center Health Program is fully funded through its entirety. Today, the House passed an appropriations package, which includes language from my bill. This provision makes corrections to the funding formula to deliver full funding for the program through its lifetime. Funding certainty matters. It ensures the program can operate as intended and that those suffering from 9/11-related illnesses can focus on their health, not bureaucracy.”

Position Flood Resilience & Infrastructure
“For Long Island communities that face growing flood risks every year, we need faster and more flexible tools to help families and small businesses recover after major storms. This bill helps communities access innovative private-sector flood insurance options while reducing administrative burdens on FEMA and strengthening local resilience efforts. Long Islanders know firsthand the devastating impact flooding can have, and this legislation is about helping communities better prepare for the next storm before it happens.”

Position Homeland Security
“As we near the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks, New York remains the top terror target in the world. DHS's counterterrorism and preparedness grants are essential to protecting Long Islanders from evolving threats and preparing for the future. I was proud to lead the effort to secure these critical resources for New York communities. As Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and as a Congressman representing a district forever marked by 9/11, I appreciate DHS's responsiveness in getting our state and local partners the tools they need to prevent acts of terror and keep our communities safe.”
