Position Budget/Federal Spending
“President Trump's budget is a cruel attack on American families. Instead of funding programs that could help alleviate the soaring costs of healthcare, housing, food, and energy, President Trump has chosen to fund his unnecessary war in Iran, a conflict that has already taken the lives of 13 servicemembers and shows no indication of slowing down.”

Position Immigration/ICE Funding
“Republicans' bill that would again give ICE additional money is exactly what Americans are sick of. Oversized budgets to fund an out-of-control police force. It is a slap in the face to the American people. The last thing ICE needs is $140 billion more for their slush fund. My Democratic colleagues and I have been clear, ICE needs real oversight, not just a blank check. Since the beginning of Trump's shutdown, we've asked for ten commonsense reforms to Trump's personal force that would ensure that ICE agents are treated on the same level playing field as every single other police force in America. I'm a NO on more funding for ICE.”

Position Maritime/Jones Act
“Let's be clear: gas prices are sky high because the cost of oil is sky high. The cost has little to nothing to do with domestic shipping costs and has everything to do with Trump's war of choice in Iran. Today's announcement of a Jones Act waiver is the opposite of Trump's "America First" message and his stated policy goals. Trump is selling out American mariners in a desperate ploy to solve a problem he created. Increasing our reliance on foreign vessels will only damage our maritime industrial base and weaken our national defense. This comes just a month after the President publicly committed in his Maritime Action Plan (MAP) to invest in American ships, shipyards, and maritime workers. A Jones Act waiver will create an unequal playing field putting international ships above American vessels. Where American ships must abide by international labor and safety standards, foreign vessels do not. The president is right, we need to lower energy costs for Americans, however, the only way to do that is to end his war with Iran.”
